I thought about this: almost every team needed a 5-man that could do what?
5 to 10 years ago, everyone needed a five that could catch lobs, a vertical spacer. That was a precedent. Now what does every team need a 5 that can do? Shoot. So these things are changing, right? What we want, what we need, but there’s always an underlying principle.
The principles won’t change.
You watch, you can watch these old games. You can watch a WNBA, NBA, high school, college. It does not matter. You’re going to, when you get a layup or three, you’re going to see an underlying principle. If you see a tough mid-range, if you see a tough shot, you’ll see a talented player.
No matter what area you’re trying to focus on (right now we’re talking about coaching basketball or invasion sports), it doesn’t matter what it is, there’s always these underlying principles that make things go.
And those are always about simplifying.
They’re never about complicating.
And for this group, you know the principles that create advantages.
